The 123rd Patriot’s Day celebration was held on the 17th of Aug 2014 in Bengaluru. Though 13th Aug is the actual Patriot’s Day, MMAB and BMSA organized this event on a Sunday to gather maximum crowd participation. The celebration was held at the Karnataka Hockey Association’s premises. Dr W Budhendra, Shree T L Singha and Shree Basanth Singha presided over as the Chief Guest, President and the guest of honor respectively. The day commenced with an opening song presented by MMAB and BMSA. This was followed by floral tribute to the Patriot’s. 123 years ago the mighty British sentenced Yuvaraj Bir Tikendrajit, Thangal General and Paona Brajabasi to be hanged till death. This was after they defeated the Meitei’s in the Anglo Manipuri war of 1891. The theme of the painting competition for children was Patriotism. It was a sight to watch the kids paint their imagination. One of them, the eventual winner, painted a portrait of Bir Tikendrajit. This was followed by the recitation competition and the symposium on “patriotism in IT era”. Many came up to recite their poetries and many spoke on the symposium topic. MMAB and BMSA would like to thank all the volunteers, participants and members of the audience for taking their time out and making this event a grand success.
