5-DAY WORKSHOP ON THE TECHNIQUES OF PAPER SETTING AND EVALUATION INAUGURATED

Imphal, Septerber 12, 2017: The 5-Day Workshop on the Techniques of Paper Setting and Evaluation conducted by the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur in collaboration with the National Council of Educational Research S Training, NCERT was inaugurated by Shri LMahendra Singh. Chairman of the Council at the Central Hall, G.P.Women’s College. Imphal today at 10.00 a.m. Dr.M.Bidyasagar, Secretary of the Council, Prof. A.D.Tiwari, Head of Planning 8, Monitoring Division, NCERT. New Delhi and Dr.S. Lalhari Sharma, Principal, G.P.Women’s College, Imphal were the presidium members on the dias. 5 Resource Persons from NCERT.New Delhi namely Prof. A.D.Tiwari.Head, Planning & Monilonng Division,NCERT. Prof. R K. Pa rasar, NCERT, Prof. Ramakar Raizada. Regional Instiiite of Education Bhopsl. Dr.K.Chandrasekhar Regional Institute of Education Ajmer and Dr.Satrupa Palit, NERIE. Shillong and 72 Local Resource Persons from different Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools in the state have participated the workshop. The workshop is the 4th of its Wind after being organized in 1995, 2003 and last year 2016. The Council has certain limitations in organizing such workshop frequently due to the constraints in the fund. However holding of such workshop regularly is very much needed in order to update the examination reforms being taken up at the national level and also to impart capacity building among our educators. Last year in the first phase we have taken up 13 subjects from Arts, Science and Commerce streams and conducted the workshop from our own resources. This year we have included all main subjects a total of 36 subjects. The NCERT New Delhi has granted the financial assistance to meet the expenditures for the conduct of the 5-Day workshop including TA/DA of all participants

In the first Academic Session, Prof. A.D.Tiwari form NCERT have delivered his lecture minutely on the National Curriculum Framework such as the introduction of typology of questions which call for reasoning, critical thinking and problem solving abilities rather than memorization of facts. He also laid special emphasis on The quality of questions used in the evaluation of students because it is these questions which lead To the improvement in the thinking ability of the student. This will definitely enhance the quality of education. The workshop will continue till 16th September with a valedictory function at 3.00 p.m. on that day. The recommendation of this workshop will be submitted to NCERT. New Delhi and COHSEM.
