CM PRESENTS ‘UTTAM JEEVAN RAKSHAK PADAK AWARD’ TO MAURICE YENGKHOM

Imphal, July 8, 2017 (DIPR):Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh presented ‘Uttam Jeevan Rakshak Padak Award-2016’ to Master Maurice Yengkhom. The award ceremony was held at CM’s Secretariat today.

The Civilian Award ‘Uttam Jeevan Rakshak Padak Award’ was conferred by Hon’ble President of India and Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India to Master Maurice Yengkhom in recognition of his indomitable courage and selfless act when he saved his cousin brother Master Hijam Rodin from electrocution at Yaiskhul on 8th May, 2015.

The Civilian Award consists of Uttam Jeevan Rakshak Padak Award-2016, Uttam Jeevan Rakshak Padak Medal, Miniature Medal, Certificate and a cheque of Rs. 60,000.

It may be mentioned that, in 2015, Maurice Yengkhom was awarded “National Bravery Award-2015” by Indian Council of Child Welfare, New Delhi.

Maurice Yengkhom is the son of Shri Yengkhom Junu Singh and Smt. Vinita Devi Elangbam of Yaiskhul Police Lane, Imphal. He is presently studying 11th standard at Sagar School, Rajasthan. (DIPR)
