INDIA FASHION WEEK LONDON, Europe’s largest Asian Exhibition and Fashion Event in Europe, was held on 11th -12th November 2017 at Olympia London organised by Platinum Exhibition Europe Limited. The collection was named “WEAVES OF VALLEY AND HILLS” where 14 outfits were showcased inspired from the cultural diversity of Manipur bringing into one collection “CHING-TAM COLLECTION”. The outfits included the Kuki, Naga, Tangkhul, Kabui and Meitei collection. And Robert Naorem used the “MEITEI MAYEK” script on the enaphee as a motive to support the cause to promote the regional script and 7 (seven) clans design of the Meitei. The different community’s fabrics and made a fusion by mixing Meiteis and Tribals fabric as a symbol of love and exchange of ethnic style of fashion bringing in together. The show kept everyone in awe as the collections were completely unique from other designers showcasing the collection. There was also an exhibition stall for Robert Naorem Studio and Academy having different designs of Manipur Handloom and sold out of them and also lots of exporters have enquired about our textiles and fabrics for future relation.

As an appreciation of Robert collection and designs supporting the state weavers and promoting handloom of the state he was awarded as “THE MOST INSPIRATIONAL DESIGNER OF 2017” by the organising team, India Fashion Week London and JD Institute of Fashion Technology. Starting from the music to the styling we have to try to use ethnic with modern touch. With the track music of runway of Pena & Langdeng and Sembung there were people having tears on their eyes and gave huge appreciation of the whole event.

EMA (European Manipur Association) also made the presence in the event and supported Robert Naorem. Around 30 Manipuris from different communities of Manipur who live in England came down to witness the show and support Manipur.
