IPR IS AN IMPORTANT DEPARTMENT: MINISTER BISWAJIT

Imphal, June 6, 2017 (DIPR): The Information and Public Relations is an important department as it helps in spreading awareness not only programmes and policies but also the various developmental schemes of the government for the welfare of the masses, said IPR Minister Shri Thongam Biswajit Singh during the first monthly review meeting of the department today held at his Conference Hall, New Secretariat office.

Elaborating on the importance of the department, he instructed the concerned officials specially the District Information Officers to ensure full functioning of the district information offices located at different district headquarters. The district offices should help in educating the masses on the development programmes and schemes of the government.

The Minister said the monthly review meeting is being conducted with the main aim to bridge the gap between the officials of the department and the government. He said “Bridging the gap-not only between the different communities, but between the officials and the government is his motto.”

Saying that everyone should do some good work for the society, the Minister said “Let’s work together and grow together to develop a new society. He urged the officials of the department not to wait for tomorrow but to work with all sincerity and dedication and not to keep anything pending for tomorrow.”

He said it is time to upgrade the department to a major department for which all officials and staff of the department should carry out their duties and responsibilities with all dedication.

The Minister further asked the heads of the department to highlight their grievances, lack of infrastructure and any other problems before him so that he could discuss the issue with the Chief Minister for redressal of the issues. He also enquired about the ongoing construction of the department building at Keishampat. He assured to provide all the requirements of the department including manpower, infrastructure in consultation with the Chief Minister. However, he urged for the timely submission of the proposals from the concerned officials.

Minister Biswajit also asked the officials of the department to come up with innovative approaches and ideas during the next review meeting so that the ideas could be shared and discussed which can be implemented.

Deputy Director Smt. Lalrongbawl Hmar, who is also the i/c DIO Churachandpur expressed the need to strengthen the DIO offices by providing more staffs and vehicle so that the offices could function properly.

Director Shri Meghachandra Kongbam, Deputy Secretary Smt. Ch. Sachi, Deputy Director Shri Ch. Noyon, Assistant Publicity Officer (Press) Shri N. Krishnakumar Singh, all district level officers and other officials of the head office, DIPR were present at the meeting. (DIPR)
