Imphal, 28th April, 2017 (DIPR): Ima Kondong Lairembi and its surrounding area can be turned into a religious tourist spot, expressed Education, Labour & Employment Minister Shri Th Radheshyam after inaugurating the Ima Kondong Lairembi Mithung Shang (Guest House) at the premise of the Ima Kondong Lairembi Khubam Moreh, today.
Continuing his speech, the Minister said construction of the guest house was made possible with support from the people. He said the place is a very popular place and attracts many visitors from different parts of the state, especially during its annual Lai – Haraoba ceremony.
He said we still need a lot to do to develop such a spot and create a religious tourists spot. Moreh is a beautiful town and attracts many tourists from both inside and outside the state, he said. The Indo-Myanmar Friendship Bridge connects India and Myanmar, he added.
He further appealed to the people to help in developing the town and its tourist spots.
He further assured before the public that he will approach the Chief Minister to do the needful to promote tourism in the area.
Today’s function was also attended by Parliamentary Secretary IFCD Shri L. Rameshwar Meetei, Parliamentary Secretary RD & PR Shri H. Dingo Singh; Parliamentary Secretary Education and YAS Shri K. Robindro, members and officials of the Autonomous District Council Moreh and members of the Ima Kondong Lairembi Mithung Shang Construction Committee.
It may be mentioned that on the way to the border town, the Minister had inspected a DIET Centre which is under construction at Tengnoupal. Later in the afternoon after the inaugural function of the guest house, the Minister also visited the Eastern Shine School and interacted with teachers of the schools. The teachers had submitted a memorandum to the Minister. Other certain organisations also submitted memorandum to the Minister. (DIPR)
