MINISTER SHYAMKUMAR REACHES OUT TO PINEAPPLE FARMERS

Imphal, 17 May, 2017 (DIPR): Horticulture & Soil Conservation and Forest & Environment Minister Shri Th. Shyamkumar today visited the pineapple farmers of the Leikouching village under Kangpokpi district.
Speaking to the mediapersons, Th. Shyamkumar said that, the Government both in the Centre and the State has taken up various welfare projects for the people but it is unfortunate that some villagers are yet to get the benefits. Minister Shyamkumar said that, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Department will give Rs 3,000 each to the pineapple farmers to buy saplings, also assuring that benefits will be given to the farmers under various schemes.
The Minister further said that, his department will provide monetary help to the villagers for tree plantation and maintenance of the trees which will help in covering the Hills. He also promised to help the farmers in providing loans.
Deputy Director of Horticulture & Soil Conservation Department provided monetary help to the 86 pineapple farmers of the area from the department’s side. The villagers have planted pineapples at 17-20 hectares of land in the Ukhalouchon area under Leikouching village.(DIPR)
