URF lauds Everest summitters

May 26 2013:The United Revolutionary Front lauded the entire team of the first NE Mount Everest Expedition which organized by the Manipur Mountaineering & Trekking Association.

A URF statement issued by AK Pibarel, Secretary Information and Publicity said the Everest expedition comprising of climbers from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim apart from Manipur was a huge success as eleven climbers reached top of the world’s highest peak.

 

It was indeed a commendable feat for the organisers (MMTA) that five climbers from the state could reach top of the Mount Everest, the URF said and adds that Manipur now has six successful Everest summiters including the lone women climber N Bidyapati Chanu. The outfit further said people of Manipur must be proud of six climbers who reached top of the Mount Everest. After N Suraj, who submitted the Everest in the year 2008, Manipur now has six Everest summitters N. Bidyapati Chanu, N. Chingkheinanba, P. Mohon, Ch. Sangkar and Ph. Bidyachand, it added.
