Ideal Blind School observes 40th Foundation day with fanfare

Ideal Blind School observes 40th Foundation day at its School premises attended by AK Mirabai, Social Welfare Minister, concern officials, parents, well-wishers and students of the School. Achievers of the school in the 19th National Sports Meet for the blind and gold medallists in the 5th National Power Lifting Championship were honoured during the functions. Besides blind students who have cleared the HSLC exam for the year 2012-13 were awarded

Today’s function was mesmerising as visually impaired showed their performance while they play on table musical instrument, guitar and sung their best number. AK Mirabai honoured the talents of the students with token of appreciation giving them support through cash for their performance on the foundation day. The minister also gave away a sum of Rs 20,000 to P. Julia Chanu who despite her deafness scored the highest mark in philosophy in the recently declared council exam. Julia studied in TG School.

SSA,State Mission Authority Manipur also distributed 110 Braille Kits to the students today. Moreover Department of Science and Technology, Government of Manipur gave presented 120 Magnifying glasses to the blind students on the occasion.

Government Ideal Blind School, Takyel which was established in the year 1973 got recognised and was taken over by Government of Manipur (Deptt.of Social Welfare) in the year 1978. The school has nurtured many students and presently there are 88 students studying in the school.  46 boys and 42 girls gender wise. Of the total 88 students 86 of them stay in the hostel.

 

The students also handed over their wishes to the Minister during the function elaborating on various facilities they want to get in the school.
