Liangmais celebrate “Chaga Ngee” festival

Imphal, October,31: Chaga Ngee, the blessed festival of the Liangmai community was held at Namdilong, Kanglatombi on Wednesday last.

Chaga ngee is annually celebrated during the autumn season which usually falls in October end or the early part of November as it depends on the moon as the Liangmai ethnic follow the lunar calendar. For the Liangmai villagers, every month is a month of festivals. Except for a month called the Chahiu Sinbo (Molomass doubling of a month or presuming two months as one). 

Manipur’s Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam attended the event as Chief Guest while IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip, Vice Chairman Hill Area Committee Z Kikhonbou Newmai, Kh Devendro, MLA of  Sekmai A/C, Vice Chairman ADC Tamenglong K Humaliabou, Executive member A Ramwangdin and member Tuntanbou Gongta of ADC Tamenglong  attended the function as President and Guests of Honour respectively.
Cultural Dances by various cultural troops from Liangmai community are the main highlight of the day long programme.
