MEETING ON DEVELOPMENT STRATEGIES FOR DOUBLE FARMER`S INCOME HELD

IMPHAL, May 17,2017(DIPR): Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Churachandpur, Pearsonmun Village Lamka ,organised under the theme Participatory Meeting on Development Srategies for Double Farmer`s Income today. The meeting was graceed by Minister Agriculture and Animal Husbandary Shri V.Hangkhanlian, Joint Director, ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Narendra Prakash, Senior Scientist and Head KVK, Churachandpur, Lamka, Dr. Niranjan Lal as Chief Guest, President and Member Secretary respectively.

The Minister applauded KVK for conducting such important Programme to give awareness about the process and system of agriculture and animals rearing for the progressive farmers of the district. Highlighting that seven strategies of Prime Minister Modiji’s doubling farmer’s income by 2022, the chief guest said that integrated agriculture and improvement of livestock system is the need of the hour, to improve the livelihood of the farmers is the ultimate goal, for this line department should work together for the upliftment of our daily life. The present shifting cultivation system carried in the hill areas was also needed to change for improvement of our livelihood, the minister added.

Jalkund Polysheet, Ginger and groundnut Decodicator were also distributed to 16 progresssive farmers from Churachandpur district by the Minister.

Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Churachqandpur Dr.Niranjan Lal also spoke about the major backwardness in the field of agriculture of the district. There was an interaction session between the participants and the dignitaries where some important questions were raised and replied by the minister.

The meeting was attended by DAO, Sericulture, DFO, NABARD, SBI Manager of Churachandpur, NYK, NECROMP, NGO, from different village chiefs, Farmers clubs, Progressive Farmers and staff and experts from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Churachandpur. (DIPR)
