MIN BISWAJITS ASKS OFFICIALS TO ENSURE SUCCESSFUL FUNCTIONING OF LBIs

Imphal, 11th August, 2017 (DIPR): Commerce and Industry Minister Shri Thongam Biswajit Singh today instructed officials of Trade, Commerce and Industry department to ensure successful functioning of all nine Livelihood Business Incubators (LBI) in the State.

The Minister stated this while chairing a monthly review meeting of Trade, Commerce and Industry at the Conference Hall of his New Secretariat Office.

Minister Biswajit said the Centre had approved opening of Nine LBIs in the State out of 20 in the entire country and that the Centre would be dejected if the State fail to ensure proper functioning of all LBIs set up in the State.

He also highlighted the feasibility of producing antibiotic in the State and asked the officials for revival of the Manipur Drug and Pharmaceuticals Corporation.

Recalling minutes from the previous review meeting, the Minister further enquired with the officials whether the Honey Making Machine at Bishnupur has been shifted to Ukhrul for which it was sanctioned under the LBI. In reply, the concerned official said it has been already installed at Ukhrul.

He also asked whether the Oil Extractor Machine for Lemon Grass at Yairipok sanctioned for Ukhrul was in used, to which the officials replied that it was lying unused and that there were opposition in efforts to shift it to Ukhrul.

Minister Biswajit also asserted the need to install all machines under LBI at their original sanctioned places. He said any machine which is not in there sanctioned location should be shifted at the earliest.He also asked the concerned officials to put all the machines in Noney at one place and to identify the site.

The Minister also asked the officials to ensure to register all department plots in the name of the department.

The meeting also discussed the implementation of the Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme. The officials said re-verification of all backlog application for the year 2016-17 is almost complete.

The Minister said ensuring success of the scheme as it would benefit the people as this will help in generate of employment. He further suggested identifying beneficiaries for the scheme in cluster rather than individuals as a pilot project. The meeting was attended by Commerce and industry Director M Luikham and other officials of the department. (DIPR)
