The mobile soil testing laboratory vehicle will determine macro nutrients like nitrogen, phosphate and potassium and micro nutrients like magnesium, zinc, copper and minerals in soil. For farmers, knowing the soil characteristics is essential to address nutrient deficiency through fertilizers. Also, the success of a crop depends on soil quality.

The mobile testing facility will be manned by agriculture officers who would conduct soil testing. Farmers will get the test results on the same day with only 12 hours of turn-around time. Farmers have to pay a minimal amount as testing charge. The agriculture department will issue a soil health card to the farmers after getting the test results. It will have all the information about the land and the farmers, said an official of Agriculture department.
