Relief Water Effort and Pond Treatment at Leishangthem coordinated by Dynamic Manipur and Helping Hands, Manipur volunteers

August 20, 2015: Leishangthem Khongmanung, Thoubal district was very badly affected by the recent flood. Life after flood is of serious concern for 100s of flood affected families
still continuing to live in relief camps and temporary sheds at road sides as their respective houses are not livable. These flood affected families live with the relief supplies and drinking water provided from several locally run social organizations. Scarcities of drinking and potable water are another issue for these flood affected families.

Marina Spring gave smiles to the flood victims of Leishangthem Khong Manung by providing drinking water to 100s flood affected families. The distribution of 8500 liters of bottled water was coordinated by Dynamic Manipur (DM) and Helping Hands, Manipur (H2M) volunteers. Earlier, Marina Spring has provided drinking waters to the flood affected families of Sugnu and Wangoo.

PS1As part of a goodwill project to restore 50 community ponds damaged by recent flood at different villages of Thoubal District and distribution of 100 water filtration units to relief camps of Chandel and Thoubal districts, DM and H2M volunteers start today treatment (using appropriate quantity of alum, lime and bleaching powder) of one of the largest community pond (Leishangthem Khong Manung Irom Pukhri Achouba) which water capacity would that of 7 average size community ponds. The event was witnessed by Thoudam Shanti Devi, pradan of Leishangthem Khong Manung. The whole process took nearly two and half hours with volunteering efforts of about 25 volunteers including local people. This goodwill project is possible to execute with the funds generously donated by Manipuri diaspora  such as San Francisco Bay Area Manipuri Community, Manipuri Association of Canada (MAC), Indians In Korea [with Korea Manipuri Association (KMA)], North American Manipur Association (NAMA) and generous individuals.
