World Bamboo Day 2017 to be celebrated in a grand way

Imphal, September 12, 2017 (DIPR): World Bamboo Day for this year 2017 will be celebrated in a grand way in Manipur on 18 th September, 2017 at Singjamei Community Hall, Imphal. The Day is being celebrated in the state as a part of the celebrations to be held in many places of the Globe on this special day on 18th September, 2017 towards the theme to give awareness about the uses of bamboo and its product as well as protection to keep a Healthy Environment in the world and also to give employment opportunities in the bamboo sectors to our artisans. For the first time World Bamboo Day was Celebrated at Prachan Buri, Thailand under the World Bamboo Organisation in the year 2009.
The Day is celebrating under the Patron of Hon’ble Speaker Shri Yumnam Khemchand Singh. A 5-Day Exhibition on bamboo & Cane and Allied Crafts will start from the day. A Painting Competition on the theme: Bamboo for Environment, Energy & Employment will also been held on 19 th September, 2017 in 2 categories – Group A for
Class I-IV and Group B for Class V-VIII.
Symposium cum lecture on bamboo – its product and relation with environment; Bamboo plantation; Entertainment on
bamboo/fashion show on bamboo theme; Bamboo Run (200 school students) and Bamboo construction (sustainability) will also be the main highlight of the event.
