There are total of 25 people from North East States as a character or cameo roles, while total of more than 50 as passing crowds and junior artistes in the Mary Kom movie releasing on September 5, 2014. Out of all this, 10 are professional dancers led by Kawaljeet. Out of which 4 Manipuri have character roles in the film. Lin Laishram as BemBem plays the role of Mary’s friend. Bijou Thaangjam (as Naobi) and Sougaijam Kevin Kumar (as Alberto) play the character role of gymnasium friends of Mary Kom and Poonam Ingram as pediatrician.
