Ningtham Charei – Keeping the Tradition Alive held on September 9, 2017

With an aim to make handloom textile & fabrics as a fashion trend and inspire the youths to use our “Make in Manipur” products and a way to motivate and inspire all traditional weaving into the next level. Ningthem charei, a runway fashion catwalk was held on 9th September 2017, at Hotel Imphal lawn with top models of the country & Manipuri models walking down the runway wearing our designed traditional outfit supporting the weavers of the State & encouraging youths to promote handloom & textile of the State and also to promote fashion trends. The grand opening show of the event was done by designer Robert Naorem who is the event organiser and a show by Young talented designer Caroline Laishram (for kids’ collection) & a grand finale by Ashok Maanay, Bangalore had showcased. The show was directed by a well know fashion choreographer Sheetal Sharma from Mumbai. Celebrities like S. Bruna Abdullah,former Miss India Universe Noyonothi Lodh & actor Abrar from Mumbai along with 5 models of LAKME & 6 models each from Mumbai & Manipur walked for the show to support the cause of weavers & handloom of Manipur .

Health Minister L Jayentakumar and All Manipur Working Journalist Union President Wangkhemcha Shamjai have also attended the event as the presidium members.
