Tamenglong, 12 Sept, 2013: The cash award for the popular housing scheme under central sponsored Indira Awa Yojana(IAY)scheme will be increased from Rs 48000 to Rs 75000 in the current year 2013- 2014. This housing scheme will enhance the people living quality of families living under Below Poverty Line(BPL). Tamenglong has around 13,000 BPL families.
This was stated by Assistant Project Officer L Bantim of District Rural Development Agency(DRDA)Tamenglong on the second day of the 3 day Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign on the flagship programs of the Central government at Tamenglong head quarter today.
The district administration had issued as many as 4500 beneficiaries of out 9000 Permanent Wait List (PWL). There is a provision for people of disable and issued as many as 16 beneficiaries till date during 2012-2013. To avail the oldest housing, the district administration has prepared 9000 PWL which is being prepared by Village Authority through Block Development Officer concerned added.
“The site selection for the house is very important. It will be well and good if people can settle in a cluster. There should be water supply for drinking, electrification and well connectivity”, Bantim said.
He clarified that the DRDA Tamenglong is the implementing agency and Block Development Officer will monitoring the scheme. The IAY housing scheme is meant for families living under below poverty line. The district administration also issued housing scheme to those house were destroyed by fire or landslide,he added.
To construct a house one can also get the bank loan, but no contract system is required, the official added.
In the meantime, as part of Bharat Nirman Public Information Campaign, a rally was also staged at Tamenglong district HQs today. The rallyists also carried banner and placards which read “save motherhood- JSY”, “Timely immunization of newly born baby”, “HIV/AIDs no cure only prevention”, “Pucca road to every rural road”, etc.
