Taking part in the technical session of the Bharat Nirman campaign held at Khangshim village in Chandel District today Shri N. Sanatomba Singh Editor of the Manipur Mail said Food security Act (FSA) is a dream project of the UPA II Government at the centre. But the act is at the infant stage, like a baby on all fours. Nothing can be accomplished in just one step, he said.
Aeroplane did not fly in the first attempt. Now we have rockets, which can put man in space and missiles have been developed, which can blow up the whole world at the press of a button, he also said.
Food security act is at the discussion stage, which can be christened. Lacunae will be detected, which can be corrected after the implementation has begun. When the act is implemented the amount expected to be involved is to the tune of Rs 1.25 lakh crore. But that will not be difficult task for the country passes budget to the tune Rs six lakh crore annually, he also said.
When this act is implemented at least 81 crore people of the country will get benefit. The importance of the act has been highlighted by the fact that it has shaped even the style of election speeches of the great leaders of the country let alone creating hope to the millions of the people of the country. Now the leaders of the opposition parties have talked of giving benefits to the poor masses if they come to power. The earlier election campaign style adopted by the leaders of the political parties was showering invectives to the leaders of the rival political parties that have been given bucket now. This is a change brought by the Food Security Act.
As the act envisages to provide food security to over 81 crore people of the country it will require total commitment and involvement of the respective state Governments for the benefits will be extended through the state Governments. He appealed to the state Government to expedite the programmes under the act without delay. The session ended by asking questions to the listeners by the speaker.
