28th April 2017 : HealthCity, Langol: Continuing the Observation of World Immunization Week 2017 from 24th April 2017 to 30th April 2017 under the theme “#VACCINESWORK”, Shija Paediatrics & Neonatology Care Centre today jointly organized an awareness programme on Immunization with SMART Society, Sagolband. The programme was held at the premise of SMART Society at Tera Loukrakpam Leikai, Sagolband, Imphal West in order to promote the use of vaccines to protect people of all ages against disease. It can be mentioned that Immunization saves millions of lives and is widely recognized as one of the worlds most successful and cost-effective health interventions. Today, there are still 19.4 million unvaccinated and under-vaccinated children in the world. Dr. Sachikumar Khangembam, Consultant Paediatrician & Neonatologist, Shija Paediatrics & Neonatology Care Centre was the resource person of the awareness programme which started at 2:00 PM. Staffs & employees of SMART Society attended the awareness programme. During the awareness programme, Dr. Sachikumar Kh. gave a detailed explanation on the importance and advantages of Immunization to the participants. He also showcased immunization’s role in sustainable development and global health security. Leaflets containing vital information about the importance of Immunization were distributed during the programme. An interactive session was conducted among the participants and the resource person to discuss queries related to Immunization.
