Best journalists, Hawkers honoured on kangleipak Meira’s B’day

Imphal, January 2: The 32nd foundation day of Kangleipakki Meira, a daily Manipuri eveninger published from Imphal was held at Manipur press club here today.

The function was graced by AK. Mirabhai, Minister social welfare,  K. Meghachandra, Parliamentary secretary of IPR, K. Manoranjan Singh, Addl. Chief Engineer, CADA  as the chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.

Various awards were also presented in connection with the foundation day.
For this year, the best male journalist award was conferred to Maisnam Karnaji, Reporter of Hueyen Lanpao, best female journalist award to Arish Rona Longjam of People’s chronicle, best journalist in electronic media to T. Sunil of ISTV, best IPR personnel to T. Romesh, best columnist to Thoungam Luwwang of Hueyen Lanpao

Dedicated hawkers of the state were also honoured with bicycle gifts plus citation during the occasion. Ch. Birendra Singh, a senior hawker  and Bungocha, young hawker were honoured for their dedicated service.

 

Speaking to the gathering,  Minister AK. Mirabhai said, “ The role of media in forming public opinion is great. It is the connecting bridge between the Government and masses. Despite the dedicated and precious service of the journalists in the state, they are managing their family with low income. We need to acknowledge and honour their service”.
