Five kilometers away from Bishenpur bazar a road diversion opens up to a fertile land where farmers use to grow variety of vegetables for commercial purpose. Khoijuman is the name of the place. Two ladies were plucking bitter gourd and sponge gourd. It was their alternate day duty to pluck the vegetables. The owner use to give them Rs 160 a day. In a day they use to pluck four thumok (a bamoo made container) each of bitter gourd and sponge gourd.
Chongtham Ibecha expressed that the owner is her neighbor and they have been growing the vegetables for the last three years. In a month time the bitter gourd is reap and the plantation is done mostly by man folks. It is hard to grow the plant through seed so they use to bring saplings.
When there is scanty rainfall they use to dug up grounds for storing water for irrigation.
