Deputy CM opens Photo exhibition

Imphal, January, 1: Under the banner of ‘Manipur through Ph. Santosh Lens, first of its kind in the history of Photography in Manipur’, Manipur’s deputy CM Gaikhangam today inaugurated a five days photo exhibition at Lamyanba Shanglen, palace compound here.

More than 1100 photographs of different events being displayed at the exhibition were captured during the 30 years long professional journey of PTI Photo journalist, Phanjoubam Santosh. All the photographs depict different past events of Manipur right from Naga Kuki communal riots to June 18 incident, Public movement on Thangjam Manorama murder and many others.

Addressing the gathering, Deputy CM Gaikhangam said, “a good photograph speaks thousands of words. It is a record which can tell the future generation the history with a vision. Photo journalists have key role to direct the society in constructive and progressive way through their meaningful shots”.  

 

The photographs taken by the journalists are precious as they would create the history. The value of Journalists Santosh photos will increase limitless in course of time. The endeavour of such dedicated journalists need to be encouraged, added Gaikhangam.
