A one month old baby girl, born to Mr. Soubam Manoranjan and Mrs. Soubam Anita Devi from Achanbigei was admitted to Shija Hospitals & Research Institute after developing Acute Renal Failure. She weighed 2.5 kg when admitted and has a known case of Congenital Heart Disease (ASD & PDA) with Congestive Heart Failure. The baby developed SIADH (Hyponatremia – with Serum Na+ – 117 mg/dL, Urea level – 63.7 mg/dL & Creatinine – 3.7 mg/dL) and it resulted into consequent seizure.  She remained in Anuric Phase for more than 10 days and had to manage under Acute Kidney Injury (AKI) protocol for newborn babies.  Eventually, Serum Na+ improved but Creatinine and Urea rose upto 7.3 mg/dL and 102.8 mg/dL respectively. This prompted the baby to undergo Peritoneal Dialysis on the same day and she recovered successfully with her Creatinine level and Urea level sliding down. The baby underwent a total of two sittings of Dialysis which helped her general condition to improve gradually. On 4th January 2016, her Creatinine level was 0.9 mg/dL and was discharged. As per record, the dialysis on this one month old baby girl weighing 2.5kg is the first ever Neonatal Dialysis done successfully done in Manipur. The whole procedure was managed and successfully conducted by a team of Shija Hospitals’ Consultants comprising of Dr. Guliver Potsangbam, Consultant Nephrologist; Dr. Yaikhomba Taorem, Consultant Paediatrician & Neonatologist and Dr. Khangembam Sachikumar Singh, Consultant Paediatrician & Neonatologist
