HepFom will be launching a week long State level campaign on hepatitis demanding the enclosure listed below. Imphal West – 31st January, Singhat sub division – 1st February, Imphal East – 2nd February, Thoubal District – 3rd February, Chandel – 4th February, Bishenpur District – 5th February, Ukhrul – 6th February. The statement is being made by the forum representatives during a press meet at MNP+ Head Office at Yaiskul Hiruhanba leikai.
1. Incorporate Hepatitis C awareness and treatment in national HIV and blood borne disease prevention programs.
2. Review the existing state policy State HIV/AIDS Policy and incorporate Hepatitis C in the revised policy.
3. Provide free access to Hepatitis C anti body testing and follow – up diagnostic (RNA and genotype), including systematic pre and post – test counseling and encure access to affordable Hepatitis C treatment to all people living with Hepatitis C.
4. Include Hepatitis C medicine in the national essential medicines list of India 2011.
5. RSBY schemes should be provided to Hepatitis C infected patients who are below poverty line.
6. Financial assistance from Manipur State illness Assistance Fund should be provided as mandatory to people who need treatment for Hepatitis C infection.
7. Greater awareness program to be taken up by government on Hepatitis C and capacity buildings of Healthcare Service Provider on Hepatitis C.
8. Integrate Hepatitis C surveillance in the existing HIV sentinel surveillance.
9. The Health Minister, Government of Manipur, to pursue the Indian Government and concerned departments on the seriousness of Hepatitis C problem in the State for developing and integrating Hepatitis C interventions in the existing national HIV/AIDS and other health Programs.
Mention may also be made that the concern Health Minister Punjathang Tonsing has recommended the concern officials to look into the matters.
