Moirangthem Loya of WAHPS was conferred ‘the Best Conservator of the year award for conserving forest at Punshilok of Langol Hills by volunteers of forest conservation in an award distribution ceremony at Little Flower School today. Over the last ten years Loya dedicated most of his time in planting nurturing and safeguarding the trees and vegetation at Punshilok with his team. 41 year old Loya was happy to receive the award in a school premises as he spoke to Manipur Times.
RK Srivastava, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest, Thingujam Bhogen Junior Scientist Officer, Directorate of Environment, Sister Bernadine Nisa, Sister Superior Little Flower School, were dignitaries of the prize distribution function of Poster Making Competition on the theme “Save Forest” under the aegis of World Environment Day- 2013 conducted weeks back.
Mirlanini Ayekpam of Paree Imom Sindam Sang, Kh Gunibala Chanu of Nirmalabas High School, N. Nganthoisana of R.K Sanatombi Devi Vidyalaya, Moirangthem Stefi of Kendra Vidyalaya, Annie Moirangthem of Maria Montessori Senior Secondary School, Chingtham Manila of Little Flower School, M Rojina Devi of Martin Grammar School and Kharibam Sylvia of Praja High School won the prizes of the Poster making competition on the theme Save Forest promoting the United Nations theme of the year “Think Eat Save’.
Maria Montessori Senior Secondary School won the grand prize among schools. Moreover Ashangbam Sanjit was conferred the best mobilizer of the year.
Today’s function was attended by students and parents where the concern officials spoke on the necessity of conserving forest citing examples for students to learn in an easy way. Students from different standards were listening to the programmes with keen interests.
