Gitkumar, Director, MAHUD, Government of Manipur, Jugindro Akoijamba, Admin II, NE Region, The Great Thoubal, Okram Bishwajit, President, Eurppean Manipuri Association and Okram Kenedy Singh, Secretary, Green Revolution Soceity, Thoubal graced the function as Chief Guest, President, Guest of honours and special Guest respectively.
Speaking to the Gathering, T. Ranjit Singh, DC, Thoubal said that awareness on the part of our people is the need of the hour with a view to keep our city neat and clean. Although thousands of Dust bins are installed at cities, we cannot keep it neat and clean when people lack awareness of being neat and clean. For bringing a healthy society, living with cleanliness is necessary. People on earth start experiencing the impact of global climate change now. The change in climatic condition is the outcome of rampant felling down of trees. We need to fight climate change with massive afforestation.
“ With settlement of people in the Municipal areas is estimated to increase by 50 percent of the total population in the years to come , the role of municipal councils to keep the city neat and clean will also be increased. Imphal city cannot be kept neat and clean so far as the woman vendors do not extend co operation. About 45 Dust bins were installed at Khwairamband Keithel as a measure to keep the city neat and tidy. Almost dust bins have been traceless now. Women vendors used to complain not to keep the dust bins near their vendor sites. Even the police imposed ban on installation of dust bins here in the cilty from security point of view. Without co-operation from all walks of life, it is not possible make a garbage free city, said N. Gitkumar”, Director of MAHUD speaking to the gathering.
