14th June 2017,Imphal : As a part of observing “World Blood Donor Day”, Shija Blood Bank and Transfusion Services organized a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp at its blood bank. Various volunteers including students of Shija Academy of Nursing, staff of Shija Hospitals and from outside donated 31 units of blood.
The theme for World Blood Donor Day 2017 is “What can you do? Give blood. Give now. Give often.”
14th June is observed as “World Blood Donor Day” throughout the world. WHO & International Federation of Red Cross & Red Crescent Society declared World Blood Donor Day on 14th June since 2004. 14th June is the birthday of Dr. Karl Lansteiner, who discovered ‘ABO’ blood group system in 1901.
