Imphal,July.21:The Range Officer, Nongmaiching Forests Range, Iribung organised the 65th Vanmahotsava celbration-2014 held under Central Forests Division, Mantripukhri on Monday at Puthiba Community Hall, Pourabi Village, Imphal East.
The program was graced by K. Kalachand Singh, Pradhan,Waiton Gram Panchayat, Th.Mahendrapratap Singh-IFS, Conservator of Forests,Cetral Circle, Forests Department, Yambem (o) Naobi Devi,Member, Pourabi gram panchayat part-l and K. Samungou Meitei, President,Joint Forests Managemant Committee (JFMC) as the Chief Guest, Functional President and Guest of honours respectively Arun R.S,IPS, Director, Zoological Garden were also attended as the Co-Host.
While deliberating on the origin and objectives of celebrating Vanmahotsava- a festival of tree Plantation in India, Th.Mahendrapratap Singh,IFS,Cosevator of Forests,Central Circle who was the Functional pesident of the Function pointed out the reason for the failure of afforestation programs taken up in the state was due to lack of caring the sapplings after planting it.
As a part of the program, tree Plantation drive was also carried out in and around the Puthiba Laisang Campust and Community hall Campus by the dignitaries, staffs, students, senior citizens, PRI Members and Locals.
