The usual gathering at sacred Kangla for fetching holy fire to mark the beginning of Yaoshang festival at local clubs begins from early morning today. Yaoshang festival which mark the year ending of Manipuri lunar calendar is observed with sports and academic activity with loaded fun games participated by localities. It is much a social festival and grooming of kids and youths for sports excellence and academic callings like quiz, ex tempore, mathematic race etc.

Nakhadeng (collecting money and in return blessing the house owner) by kids after Yaoshang Meithaba at moonlight remains a part of the festival. Kids wore traditional attire specially the girls and boys also wore new dresses and play with water and color to mark the festival.
