7th June 2018: Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a platform to provide recognition to the informal learning or learning through work to get equal acceptance as the formal levels of education. In short, RPL is a process of assessment of an individual’s prior learning to give due importance to learning as an outcome rather than learning as process. Individuals with prior learning experience or skills will also be assessed and certified under Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Chanu Creations, Thangmeiband, Imphal West of Manipur is implementing RPL-PMKVY training to entire North Eastern states of India including Sikkim as Project Implementing Agency (PIA) under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC). The Certification programme of RPL-PMKVY trainees of Hojai District, Assam was held on 7th June, 2018 at Dakhin Jamuhandal, Gouranagar (Hojai). The total certified candidates of Hojai District, Assam is 1269.

In the speech of Deputy Commissioner, Hojai Shri Mahendra Pratp Singh prise the efforts and initiative taken up by Chanu Creations towards the skilling of women weavers of NE Region of India under RPL-PMKVY. He also extended his full supports to Chanu Creations for any kind of development works for the welfare of women weavers of Hojai District.
Smt. Chirom Indira explain the need of loom modification, importance of product diversification and quality control to meet the challenges of new market trends. Chanu Creations already open up its production unit in Hojai since last 2 years back specially to promote Lashing Phee to the National and International markets. She also added that handloom sector can generate maximum numbers of employment (be they literate or illiterate) by directly or indirectly particularly in rural areas. Chanu Creations is marching towards the transformation and reformation of the working condition of women weavers in the region. At the end of the function, she has buy a big quantity of products produced by the trainees of RPL-PMKVY.
Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) is a flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE). The main objective of this scheme is to encourage and enhance skill development of today’s unemployed people. It is a new initiative step launched by Hon’ble PM Shri Narendra Modi for India’s young generation to make every Youth of this country employable and economically independent.
