Bijoy Laishram of Hueiyen Lanpao honoured with Seram Mangi Award 2013.

Imphal, December 11: Bijoy Laishram, Senior Reporter of Hueiyen Lanpao daily was honoured with Seram Mangi Memorial journalist Award 2013 for his outstanding reporting in the field of rural reporting on the occasion first death anniversary of late Seram Mangi Singh held at Lamyanba Shangle, palace compound here today.

Late Seram Mangi, (IIS) was a renowned journalist of the state who worked at All India Radio, Imphal for years.

The death anniversary event organised by Seram Mangi Foundation, Singjamei Kshetri Leikai was graced by M. Okendro Singh Minister, Education, CAF&PD, Manipur and Eminent Lyricist, B. Jayantakumar Sharma as chief Guest and President. A Souvenir in connection with the occasion was also released by the chief guest. 

Delivering a resourceful lecture on the topic “school education in Manipur”, Professor W. Nabakumar, Department of Anthropology, MU said that development of a nation depends on the development of education. The present system of education in the state needs to be changed to bring value based education. The present system of education is just to store information in the mindset of the students, but lacks thinking and reasoning on the part of the students.

 

The teachers of the private schools are being exploited with a small salary despite their service is highly commendable. There is always a tussle between the private school owners and the student bodies regarding school fees. State Government need to introduce a stable policy to solve these problems, added he.
