IMPHAL, December 3: Biggest post-harvest festival of the Zeliangrong community, Chakan Gaan-Ngai kick-started in Manipur today with different organizations celebrating the festival in their own manner with traditional gaiety and religious fervor.
As part of the festival, Locals of Keirao bitra under the aegis of Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi Development Committee presented gifts to the Irilbung Kabui today.
Takhellambam Joy Meetei Chairman of Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi Development Committee, an apex body of Keirao bitra presented gifts to the Irilbung Kabui Village Chief Tomba Kabui in token of brotherhood between the Meetei and Kabui ethnic.
Gaan-Ngai is the greatest festival of the Zeliangrong people living in the State of Manipur, Assam and Nagaland. We are extremely grateful to the Meetei brothers for participating our festival. Mutual partipation in other community’s festival will help build the sense of brotherhood and unity in the state, said Tomba Kabui, Village Chief of Irilbung Kabui while receiving gifts.
During the gift presentation ceremony, renown Shumang Lila Artiste Keirao Rajen, Additional District Magistrate Tamenglong Salam Kunjakishore, Keirao Gram Panchayat Pradhan Mutum Romeshchandra also attended.
