Communist Party of India under the banner June Struggle with certain demands like enactment of Inner Line Permit, Abolition of Corruption in the State, Price control for various commodities, repeal of AFSPA, stage a protest rally at BT Road in the early afternoon today.
The protest was led by Dr. M.Nara, former MLA Mangi, and other prominent CPI members. Police have to disperse the crowd with tear gas. And several protestors were picked as protest continued despite warnings by the personals.
The protest was loud with resentment over the electricity problem the State is facing so far. Lack of medical facilities in the State and the consequent high expenditure of the citizen for treatment outside the State. The incumbent National Highway and the need for improvement for the same were a huge mention in the protests today.
The crowded BT Road was halted for some movement. Shops were shut down. People were busy with their eyes as tear gas bullets rolled down the streets. Onions and Colgate brand toothpaste were the immediate relief.
Ibomcha DSP, Tejkumar City O.C and other officials rushed and controlled the mob where several protestors were arrested.
A similar protest was underway at Kwakeithel under the same banner.
