Education Minister of Manipur Dr. Kh Ratankumar appreciated and congratulated Ronaldo Laishram, who discovered a Main Belt Asteroid MAUR397 in 2014. He provided him with a Telescope for his further exploration and research and wishing him all the best for his future goal. Ronaldo Laishram, who is now studying Computer Science engineering at JSS Science and Technological University(formerly SJCE), Mysore express deep sense of respect and gratitude to the Minister for his kindly gift which will help him to work with his own instrument. Ronaldo Laishram was also felicitated and awarded by Former President of India, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and Dr A.S Kiran Kumar, Chairman of Indian Space Research Organisation(ISRO).
Ronaldo Laishram, son of L. Mahajon Singh and L. Sanahanbi Devi of Khangabok, Thoubal is currently Summer Research Fellow at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, ISRO. His family express the warmest gratitude and thankful to the Minister and wishing him to continue to serve the people.
Ronaldo Laishram wants to outreach the importance of Space Science and Astronomy to the young students of Manipur. He is planning to set up one Astronomical Society in Manipur. Its purpose is to empower people of all ages to use their voice to change the world, share the passion of astronomy and the wonders of the Universe and it will help explore new things and will develop creativity. To successfully travel on new paths in science call for excellent guidance and firm support. Yes, you are right bro. Even this Telescope is also provided after a long time. MANIPUR govt. didn’t support and help before. Even APJ Abdul Kalam awarded him but no govt. Organization awarded him. I heard that this one is also from Minister’s private money not related with govt. In USA, there are many opportunities, but here no one is care to support this kind of talent
