Thangjam Agro Industries, Chingmeirong East, Manipur which is well popular for its ‘Likla’ Brand in the state displays its products of varied tastes at the ongoing Seven days Imphal food extravaganza, 2014 held at the Iboyaima Shumang Leela Shanglen, Palace Compound organised by the Directorate of Commerce and Industries Department, Government of Manipur.
The food festival is organized with the objectives of promoting local food products made by the entrepreneurs of the state. At least, 60 food stalls are taking part in the festival which would conclude on October 9.
With a production capacity of more than 500 Million Tons per annum, food and beverage products under the brand name Likla, manufactured by Thangjam Agro Industries have been a popular and highly acclaimed one in the state.
Thangjam Agro Industries is an initiative of Thangjam Joykumar, son of late Th. Birachandra and late Thangjam (ongbi) Maipakpi of Chingmeirong Mamang Leikai, Imphal East who founded this agro based industry in 1991 with some financial assistance from his Doctor brother Dr Daballi, Rs.5 lakh from Manipur Industrial Development Corporation ((MANIDCO) and Rs 1.5 lakh from Imphal Urban Co-operative bank as loan.
The beverage and packaged drinking water manufacturing Industry has now climbed the ladder of success with good turnover against all odds and difficulties. The successful venture of a local entrepreneur is a precious asset which Manipur can be proud of as it contributes its bit in accelerating the State’s economic growth thereby saving huge public money supposed to be shelled out in the purchase of food and beverage items from outside Manipur.
The farm manufactures beverage items such as Orange, Lemon, Pineapple and Passion fruit squash, ready to serve beverages (non fruit) items made of Litchi, Mango, Orange, Pineapple, Apple, Strawberry and packaged drinking water of 500 ml, 1 litre and 20 litre capacity. Other food items include Jams made of Pineapple, Mixed Fruit, Sauces made of Tomato, Tamarind Chutney, Mixed pickle, Can – Pineapple of slices, cubes, Natural Juice etc.
