Livanus Soram, Aribam Shivani win top honours in State level spelling competition

Livanus Soram (Class VII)representing Heritage Convent and Aribam Shivani Devi (Class X) representing Little Flower School have won the top honours in the final round of 4th state level spelling competition organized by Students’ Union of Kangleipak (SUK) held at Manipur Institute of Management Studies (MIMS), Manipur University.

MN Khunthikngamba (Class VI) of UNACCO School won second while Md Ayamam (Class VII) of Anatrctic English School, Yairipok won third place in the competition held for Cat A (class V-VII).

For Category B (Cl VIII-X), Somnath Khaidem representing Moria Montessori Senior Secondary School won second while the third place was jointly occupied by RK Jayshri (class IX) of Heritage convent and Yaiphabi Mayengbam (class VIII) of Little Flower school.

As much as 28 contestants vied for the competition held at MIMS hall. The 28 participants were selected from the preliminary round held at Johnstone Higher Secondary School on May 24.

From around 819 students from private and government schools who participated in the competition, 11 students from class VIII to X and 12 students from class V to VII were selected for the final round of the competition.

The competition was held to bring out the hidden talents of the students who are considered to be the future pillars. Competition generates confidence among the students.

 

The top three winners were given Rs 10,000, Rs 7000 and Rs 5000 respectively while 15 consolation prizes were also distributed for each category.
