With the theme “Conservation of Environment” and “Promotion of Tourism”, the Sangai Youth Art Challenge 2015-a painting and photography competition- was held on November 15 at Maniwood Children Park, Cheirao Ching, Thangmeiband, Imphal organised by Department of Tourism, Government of Manipur in association with Youth Street News.
The event served as a pre-event to Manipur Sangai Festival 2015 with young participants, from the age group of 8-30 years, participating in this mega-youth event. More than 100 participants in various categories, including physically challenged individuals, were part of this youth art challenge. The competition was followed by an acoustic music performance by young artists namely, The Wishess, Gravity and our very own Manipuri Singers Hamom Sadananda and Ms Surma.
Young and dynamic personalities namely, Dr. Govind Singh, Director (Honorary), Delhi Greens and Assistant Professor at Environmental Studies Department, IP College, Delhi University; Mrs Kripali Yambem, Assistant Commandant, Indian Coast Guard; Rajkumar Kaiku, famous Manipuri Film Actor and owner, Maniwood Children Park; and Ms Mehnaz Nasreen, Founder Editor, Youth Street News, graced the event as the Chief Guest, Guests of Honour and President respectively.
Eminent officials of Department of Tourism namely, Mrs Nidhi Mani Tripathi, Secretary; Mr. Shyamlal Poonia, Director and Mrs Rachel Guite, Deputy Director also attended these youth event and appreciated the young participants and their work. They also distributed Clean Manipur, Green Manipur t-shirts to the participants.
The Sangai Youth Art Challenge 2015 was a triumphant with young blood of Manipur showing their artistic side vibrantly.
