A one day free diabetes and hypertension screening camp was organized on 07 April, 2016 by Shija Diabetes and Hypertension Clinic from 10 AM to 1 PM to observe the World Health Day. Diabetes has become a global burden and according to International Diabetes Federation’s diabetes atlas, seventh edition 2015, approximately 415 million adults have diabetes; by 2040 this will rise to 642 million. The theme for World Health Day, 2016 is ‘Beat Diabetes’. Free blood sugar test, urine examination, ECG, Hepatitis B, C, HIV screening along with free OPD consultation with Physician (medicine specialist), Dietician and free retina screening were the main highlights of the camp. It is worth mentioning here that Shija Diabetes and Hypertension Clinic is a special clinic which provides comprehensive care for diabetes and hypertension. The clinic remains open on every Thursday and Saturday from 9 AM to 12 Noon. Salient features of the clinic include exclusive consultation with physician, dietician, retina screening along with free blood sugar test, urine examination, ECG, Hepatitis B, C and HIV screening. Other salient features include multispecialty team approach to tackle the complications of long standing diabetes and hypertension and 24 X 7 emergency services for diabetes and hypertension. Altogether 60 patients were screened during the said camp.
