May 29, 2016: As part Celebrating Northeast at Guwahati, a fashion extravaganza bringing eight stars of northeast together was conducted at Taj hotel under the sponsorship of Ministry of Textile, Govt of India , Ministry of Youth Affairs and Ministry of Ayush. Robert Naorem represents Manipur State with his collections as “tribute of the weavers”. His collections was purely ethnic wear of Manipur keeping the look bit western and keeping the outfit purely traditional way. He used color pallets of blues, black and whites. And his designs were exclusively to promote weavers of the state by enhancing the colours patterns, and prints and keeping the traditional prints also alive. The whole concept is to motivate the weavers & Young emerging designers. If we as a established designers started using n focusing on this handloom work and textile it will help the weavers and young designers to set the trends in using the traditional designs and focus on this fabrics and lastly also it will promote the updating of our traditional design to the whole nation. Make in India & make on Manipur is the voice of my whole collection.
