une 7, 2017, DIO, Senapati (DIPR): A one day workshop on intensified diarrhoea control fortnight (IDCF) was organised today by the District Health Society (NHM), Senapati, under the aegis of the Deputy Commissioner of the District, who is also the Chairman of the District Health Society at the Deputy Commissioner’s conference Hall for the upcoming IDCF 12th to 24th June, 2017.
Speaking on the occasion Deputy Commissioner, Shri Athem Muivah said that we need to give more emphasis on children below 5years of age as they are more vulnerable to this epidemic. He stress on the need of having a more effective control mechanism and asked the public to extend their full support and corporation towards this end.
Deliberating on the occasion the CMO, Shri H. Loli said that IDCF was started three years back with aim of decreasing the child mortality, and targeting zero childhood dead due to diarrhoea. In the last three years there has been huge decrease in the child mortality due to diarrhoea as a result IDCF has been extended for the fourth year. He further said that the main objective of IDCF is to create awareness by going door to door awareness campaign to the far flung vulnerable areas of the state.
It may be mentioned that the effect of diarrhoeal mortality remains high in the children and hence in continuation of the efforts in 2014, 2015, and 2016, it has been decide to organise an intensified Diarrhoea control Fortnight (IDCF) this year from 12th June to 24th June 2017, with the ultimate aim of “Zero child deaths due to childhood diarrhoea”.
Besides Deputy Commissioner and Chief Medical Officer of the district, different district level officers, ZEO, DPO, DIO, DLOs (Health Dept.), MO i/c, DI(ZIO, ADC), CDPO and BPMU were also present in the seminar. (DIPR)
