Imphal, 20th June, 2017(DIPR): “One Stop Centre (OSC) will soon be expanded to 3 Districts after 100 days; next target being Imphal and Hill Districts in Manipur,” Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen announced during her spot visit to Sakhi One Stop Centre, the 1st ever centrein the state, at Thoubal Mini Secretariat complex today.
During the visit, Social Welfare Minister interacted with the concern officials and the staff and also enquired about the infrastructure to know if there is any assistance she can provide from her end. She lauded and appreciated the DC, Thoubal and his team for such an initiative and expressed gratitude to see the centre fully functional and in the satisfactory manner.
At present, this centre is equipped with 10 rooms including administration, dormitory, kitchen, toilets, counselling room, video conference room, police, medical and waiting room and there are around 20 staff at the centre that includes administration staff, police, medical team, case worker and counsellor and support staff.
Addressing the ministerial team, DC Thoubal L. Nabakiswar Singh, IAS stated that it is the first ever centre that serves as a second home for the women’s victims.
It may be mentioned that under the directive of Ministry of Child and Welfare Development, OSC is meant for women in distress or affected by violence in private and public places. It will facilitate an integrated range of services including medical, legal, and psychological support.
Ministerial team at the spot includes Principal Secretary J.C. Ramthanga, IAS, DC Thoubal L. Nabakiswar Singh, IAS, Director, Social Welfare Jacintha Lazarus and the officials of the department. (DIPR)
