MEDICAL SURVEILLANCE TEAMS WILL BE DEPUTED SOON: CM

Imphal, July 30, 2017 (DIPR): Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh said that medical surveillance teams having necessary equipments would be deputed at Moreh, Jiribam and Behiang (Churachandpur district) to medically examine the people, who are entering the State, in view of spread of Japanese Encephalitis, Dengue, Swine Flu and other vector-borne diseases in the State.

Speaking on the sidelines of inspection of National Sports University site at Koutruk today, Shri N. Biren said that a high level review meeting was held at Chief Minister’s Secretariat last night.

He added that a strong team of doctors and paramedics led by senior officers of State Health Services and AYUSH Department had rushed to Churachandpur to contain the situation arising out of the reported spread of an unknown disease at Henglep sub-division.

The Chief Minister further stated that a sum of Rs. 1 lakh had been sanctioned from Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to Hill Area Committee Chairman and Henglep AC MLA Shri T.T. Haokip to help the affected villagers.

Stating that 100 more infected villagers reached Churachandpur district headquarters yesterday, the Chief Minister further informed that two more Shaktiman trucks had been sent to transport the remaining 80 villagers from Henglep to district headquarters.

Shri N. Biren said that the State Government would extend necessary assistance to the affected villagers through the district administration and elected leaders.

He further said that the Government would even airlift the patients if necessary.

The Chief Minister stated that 70 per cent of the Japanese Encephalitis and Dengue cases were detected in Churachandpur district. (DIPR)
