Imphal, September 4, 2017 (DIPR): Education, Labour and Employment Minister Shri Thokchom Radheshyam Singh said that playground needs to be preserved to make the dreams of young spirited sport children come true.
He was speaking as Chief Guest at the Closing Function of the 3rd District Level 7 A Side Under 13 Football Tournament – 2017 at Tourangbam Leikai Ground, Heirok. The event was organised by Tourangbam Leikai Youth Club (T.L.Y.C.) which carries a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 for the winner. While the runners up being awarded with Rs. 5000. In addition to the cash prize the Hon’ble Minister contributed an additional amount of Rs. 3000 to winner and Rs. 2000 for runners up respectively.
The Kabo Leikai Development Association lifted the winning cup, beating the host team Tourangbam Leikai Youth Club (T.L.Y.C.) by 5 – 4 at the Penalty Shoot Out. The championship was overall participated by 12 teams.
The Minister said that sports should be given the same importance as education, to make the children stay healthy and divert them from wrong things. The state has huge potential as power house of sports and to better the condition of sports, he said, every possible requirement and help will be extended from the government’s side.(DIPR)
