Imphal, September 7, 2017 (DIPR): Education Minister Shri Thokchom Radheshyam said the outdated things need to be dropped. Culture like everything has their positive and negative aspects which need to be identified, and the negative things need to be dropped by making the right choice.
He was speaking as Chief Guest at the inaugural function of the National Seminar on Cultural Heritage of Manipur, organised by Department of Anthropology, Manipur University and Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalaya, Bhopal (IGRMS). He said life has become so fast that making choice is also a big task specially for the fresh minds.
It is very necessary and important that the youths be made aware of the rich cultural heritage of the Manipur so they are guided properly. He said rich culture need to be cherished and the issues degrading the society need to be addressed along with the rich cultural heritage. What’s important is to use this rich culture as guidance for progressive development.
Ex – Director, Centre for Myanmarese Studies Prof. W. Nabakumar Singh said the knowledge gained from this seminar will benefit the state in exploring the unexplored cultural beauties of Manipur.
Director, IGRMS, Prof. Sarit Kumar Chaudhuri said that the institution aims in building linkages with the communities across nation state. In order to understand the cultural diversity, the civilisation value and issues of national integration, the institute is engaged with different activities including initiation to link different communities. He also announced that a centre will also be open in north east since the ministry has mandated to do so.
