Imphal, September 30, 2017 (DIPR): Law and Legislative Affairs Minister Shri L. Jayantakumar Singh has expressed that no one can be above the law. Speaking as Chief Guest at the Legal Awareness cum Fresher’s Meet Programme, 2017 organised by Tribal Students’ Union LMS Law College at the Amity Hall, Adimjati Complex, Chingmeirong, Imphal today, Law Minister asserted that young lawyers must know the reason why lawyers are addressed by the word Learned. A lawyer needs to learn and equip with knowledge of all fields, he added.
Saying that going with legal profession is not an easy job, it is a challenge indeed. We are given authority by the law of the land. Good philosophy with good reasoning capacity is also necessary to become a good lawyer, he added.
He also assured to address the grievances of the students and the staffs as well. Minister also wished the fresher of the college to become successful in life in future in their professions.
The programme was attended by RS Reishang, Sr. Govt. Advocate, High Court of Manipur, Md Salatur Rahman, Principal, LMS Law College, Golmei Gaiphulshillu, Chairman, I/E District Legal Services Authority, Smt. RK Memcha Devi, Member Secretary, Manipur State Legal Service Authority as Functional President and Guests of Honour respectively.
Before attending the Legal Awareness cum Fresher’s Meet Programme, Minister Jayantakumar Singh along with Parlimentary Secretary Shri L. Susindro Meitei was attending the 121st Birth Anniversary of Lamyanba Hijam Irabot at the Library Hall of Manipur University. Floral tribute was paid to the statue of Lamyanba Irabot as a mark of the 121st Birthday of the Hero. The programme was organised by Irabot Celebration Committee, Manipur University, Canchipur. (DIPR)
