Imphal, OCTOBER 2, 2017 (DIPR): Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Smt Nemcha Kipgen expressed that the knowledge imparted by senior citizens are priceless and the kind of support and cooperation among the senior citizens are worth learning by the younger generation. This was stated by the Minister at the Observation of International Day of Older Persons (Senior Citizens’ Day) organized by Kuki Senior Citizens’ Welfare Forum (KSCWFM) at Pu Enjakhup Hall, Khongsai Veng, Imphal.
Addressing the gatherings as Chief Guest, Social Welfare Minister comforted the elders not to get discourage with their lives as she’ll try her best to live up to their expectation through her Social Welfare Department. She assured that through the department, she’ll rendered all possible assistance to the old aged people in the state and said that their rights will not be curtail in any way.
Minister Nemcha further stated that as she had been in the medical profession for around two decades, she is very much aware that the senior citizens faced lot of inconveniences when it comes to seeking medical assistance. To ease their problems and as mentioned earlier, she’ll urge the government to build Hospital especially for the older persons and if this comes true, it will be one of the major achievement of the government as no other government in any other states of the country have achieved it, she added.
On this occasion, Warkhopao Kilong, aged 103 and Lamkhochin Khongsai, aged 101 who were the oldest among the surviving KSCWFM were honoured and presented with a traditional shawl. The gatherings in today’s function mostly comprises of senior citizens. (DIPR)
