CHIEF MINISTER INAUGURATES FAST TRACK COURT

Imphal, June 27, 2017 (DIPR): Chief Minister Shri N. Biren Singh inaugurated the Court of Additional Sessions Judge (Fast Track Court) for crimes against women at Court Complex, Lamphelpat today.

Smt. A. Noutuneshwori Devi, MJS Grade-I, has been appointed as the Judge of the newly established Court.

Speaking on the inauguration function, organised by Law and Legislative Affairs Department as the chief guest, the Chief Minister urged the Judiciary to introduce a mechanism so that the persons who have committed heinous crimes do not get bail easily.

He observed that sincerity, transparency and co-ordination on the part of all the stakeholders are must to make the fast track Court effective and efficient.

The Chief Minister informed that a Grievance Cell having Call Centre facility would be set up soon at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat to attend to the complaints and grievances of the general public.

Stressing the need for having a Judicial Academy for the State, he stated that the State Government would take up necessary steps in this regard as soon as possible.

Maintaining that the new State Government is putting in all possible efforts to fulfil people’s wishes in a systematic manner, Shri N. Biren said that the elected leaders, who are part of the new Government, had taken a pledge to end the old culture of politics.

Law and Legislative Affairs Minister Shri L. Jayantakumar while speaking as the functional president said that the State Government is also planning to introduce a fast track Court for juvenile related cases as well.

The Minister also assured that suggestions from the Judges, Advocates and general public to bring a change to the Judicial system of the State would be acknowledged by the Government.

PHED Minister Shri Losii Dikho, Judges of High Court of Manipur, Hon’ble Justice N. Kotiswar and Hon’ble Justice Kh. Nobin and Advocate General Shri N. Kumarjit also attended the function as guests of honour.

Many legal luminaries, senior Advocates and bureaucrat officers also attended the function. (DIPR)
