Imphal, October 2 (DIO-BPR): The district has joined the nation in observing the Gandhi Jayenti Day with a solemn function held at the Mini Secretariat Office Complex, Bishnupur today. With the observation, the closing ceremony of the Shwachhta Hi Sewa under Swachh Bharat Mission (G) was also held.
It may be mentioned that this Shwachhta Hi Sewa, a cleanliness drive, was being observed since 15th of last month i.e September. It had been organised by the District Water and Sanitation, Bishnupur and Bishnupur District Swachh Bharat Co-ordination Committee under the guidance from the district administration.
Deputy Commissioner of the district, Shri Bobby Waikhom was the main guest in the function. All the district level officers (DLOs) and their subordinate staff also attended the function.
In his speech, Shri Bobby stressed on the need to keep our respective workplaces clean and hygienic by the employees. He also appealed the employees to maintain the spirit and responsibility of cleanliness even after the observation, and also to spread the awareness of a Clean India through the public who visit the offices.
Before his speech, the DC led the officers and employees in paying floral tribute to the portrait of ‘the Father of the Nation’ Mahatma Gandhi. (DIPR)
