October 24, 2017 (DIO Senapati): Under the aegis of the Directorate of Handlooms and textiles, Manipur, a one day awareness program on Handlooms and Handicrafts delivery scheme and MUDRA scheme was organised by the District handlooms and textile office at Indoor Stadium, Senapati today
Speaking as the Chief Guest, Shri K. Holison Rongmei, Deputy Chairman & Town planning, ADC, Senapati, said that weavers are also entrepreneurs and should think of different designs to attract more buyers, and urges to use more of cotton and silks yarns. He further said that unlike other products there is no dread of market for Handloom products and should take advantage of the schemes provided by the banks and the government agencies, and also develop banking habits and habit of repaying bank loans in time. He also opined that all ladies should learn weaving so that they can earn more in order to have a good standard of living.
Giving his presidential speech, Shri N.Nilabantajit Singh, Project Manager, Handloom Dist. Handlooms & Textile, Senapati said that handlooms and handicrafts delivery Scheme is one of its kind and first ever to be implemented not only in the state
But in the whole of north east India. Speaking about MUDRA scheme he urges the weaver to abstain from taking loans as far as possible as interest never sleeps, and urges to take loan only in dire needs.
Giving his key note address Shri Bhubon Singh, Board Director, Manipur Apex H/Lweaver & H/C Artisans, CS Ltd. Imphal said that till now 4322 primary handloom weavers’ societies had been registered. And under the National Handloom Development Program, Manipur Handloom & Handicraft Development agency is implementing the Handloom and Handicrafts Delivery schemes under which raw materials are being delivered at the door step and also the finished products will be bought back by the agency under this scheme.
Shri Z.Tholi Paul, Lead District Manager, SBI,LBO Senapati, Shri Y.Shantikumar Singh Asst. ManagerCommerce, NHDC,Imphal and Shri M.Ibohal singh ,Asst.Director Weaving, WSC, Imphal were the other resources persons of today’s awareness programe. (DIPR)
